Beware the beast man, for he is the devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport, or lust or greed. Yes, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him. Drive him back into his jungle lair: For he is the harbinger of death.
(From Planet of the Apes)
He is talking about US, homo sapiens sapiens. And what he says feels so painfully true (except that chimpanzees also kill for sport, or lust or greed. Bonobos don't. They prefer fucking for peace.).
This is our legacy, a part of being human. Being human means both being generous, loving and sensible as well as being a beast willing to fight until death. But it's always our choice. So let us choose wisely.
